Canonical thermal pure quantum state.
A thermal equilibrium state of a quantum many-body system can be represented by a typical pure state, which we call a thermal pure quantum (TPQ) state. We construct the canonical TPQ state, which corresponds to the canonical ensemble of the conventional statistical mechanics. It is related to the microcanonical TPQ state, which corresponds to the microcanonical ensemble, by simple analytic tran...
متن کاملTime Evolution of Pure Quantum State and Emergence of A Nearly Thermal State ∗
Dynamical evolution of the quantum ground state (vacuum) is analyzed for time variant harmonic oscillators characterized by asymptotically constant frequency. The oscillatory density matrix in the asymptotic future is uniquely determined by a constant number of produced particles, independent of other details of transient behavior at intermediate times. Time average over one oscillation period ...
متن کاملThermal pure quantum states at finite temperature.
An equilibrium state can be represented by a pure quantum state, which we call a thermal pure quantum (TPQ) state. We propose a new TPQ state and a simple method of obtaining it. A single realization of the TPQ state suffices for calculating all statistical-mechanical properties, including correlation functions and genuine thermodynamic variables, of a quantum system at finite temperature.
متن کاملEmergence of canonical ensembles from pure quantum states.
We consider a system weakly interacting with a bath as a thermodynamic setting to establish a quantum foundation of statistical physics. It is shown that even if the composite system is initially in an arbitrary nonequilibrium pure quantum state, the unitary dynamics of a generic weak interaction almost always drives the subsystem into the canonical ensemble, in the usual sense of typicality. A...
متن کاملQuantum communication is possible with pure state
It is believed that quantum communication is not possible with a pure ensemble of states because quantum entropy of pure state is zero. This is indeed possible due to geometric consequence of entanglement. Quantum entropy is the measure of information content of quantum state [1,2]. Only for mixed state quantum entropy is non-zero. Therefore, one may conclude that same pure ensemble cannot be u...
